[textarea]Jet2 emergency at Belfast Airport

Passengers were forced to evacuate their flight after a ‘technical problem’ was discovered on a Jet2 plane at Belfast International Airport, the Belfast Telegraph reports. The holidaymakers were about to fly to Ibiza when the situation arose yesterday.

The Jet2 flight was preparing for takeoff when the glitch was discovered at around 09:30. The technical problems led to an emergency being declared for a short period of time and the passengers were forced to disembark and wait for a second plane.

A spokeswoman for Jet2 confirmed the technical fault, but was unable to confirm the exact nature of the issue. A spokeswoman for the airport told the newspaper that the emergency situation did not last long.

So with both Palma and Pisa flights clipped at the end this amounts to an overall reduction unless we see any new routes announced by them.

Update re: Flights resume operation from Belfast International Airport

Following our decision to temporarily suspend operations at Belfast International Airport, due to safety concerns during the current maintenance programme on the main runway, we have today come to an agreement with the airport that we will now operate all our flights using the alternative North/South runway. This will take effect from Wednesday 10th April, until further notice.

Full statement: http://www.jet2.com/new/status

It's good to see some progress with this. It will have cost the airline a fortune.

The North/South runway is considerably shorter though @ 17/35- 1,891m - 6,204ft - Asphalt (wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belfast_I ... al_Airport) so it looks like they will need to carry out some tech stops to refuel on some routes until they move back to the main runway.

If there using runway 17, the TORA is even less at 1792m so I can see some fuel stops required, especially to the canaries

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
