All rugby related, Dragons played Zebra, Ospreys played Ulster, Blues played Connought and Scarlets flew to Glasgow to play Glasgow.
Does CWL have the largest number of regular rugby and football charters of any UK airport? I'm not counting major European matches when for example Liverpool Airport might see many charter flights for a particular match in non-pandemic times. Cardiff City and Swansea City seem to fly to several of their away matches too, as well as some of their opponents using CWL to reach the Bluebirds' and Swans' home grounds.

I wouldn't be surprised considering there are 4 professional rugby teams and 3 professional football teams and 1 ice hockey team engaging in cross border competitions and the national teams of football and rugby that are generally based in it's catchment.

This is the nearest thread I could find for this.

I was looking at the South Wales Aviation Group website a few minutes ago and they show no scheduled flights (in or out) at the airport yesterday.
What happened to KLM?

Apart from the Volcanic eruption a decade ago I can't imagine the last time there were no scheduled flights in a day at the airport. When they say 'scheduled' they appear to include the regular charter flights with the likes of TUI because there were none of them either.

Atlantic Airways arrival from Faroe Islands 10.20am on 19th October. TLY there hasn't been a KLM flight on a Tuesday for a couple of weeks, and no charters either, I don't know when KLM intend to re-instate it, it must lack of demand.

It's currently on it's way back to Amsterdam.

TUI is also currently on it's way to Rhodes also.
It was Tuesday when SWAG said there were no flights.

Thanks for the info re KLM. I hadn't realised that.

This has happened since the end of last month. I know when I looked in 29th September there was only a Vueling flight which has also since been dropped.

of course height of COVID there were also no flights at Cardiff Airport and the terminal was effectively shut.

Maybe this year Cardiff May have the most amount of sporting charters. This is due to lack of scheduled services and the fact that there are more stringent policies regarding COVID-19.

I imagine that some London Airports May have a number of sporting charters that we may not even be aware of. I suppose the likes of Liverpool/Manchester airports may be close however.

Indeed, but I really meant though I didn't express it properly when the airport was otherwise open for its regular business.

Two more rugby related flights on 22/10, Cityjet to Venice at1200, and Blue Islands to Paris Le Bourget at 1600.

Return flight to the Faroe Islands at 1105 on 23/10, by Atlantic Airways, flight No. RC7869.

Real shame i'm not allowed to photo some of these aircraft due to local lockdown.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
