Hi there ray and all, have only just started to look at recent posts on the forum yesterday, do to recovery from op on tuesday, any new announcements due at at all to cheer us all up....Andyc

Good to have you back AndyC. I'm sure everyone will join me in wishing you a speedy recovery! Hopefully Ray Finkle or one of the BHX regulars will be able to provide you with an update

Hope all is well Andy and a speedy recovery.

I was just wondering myself whether PK will bow out with the mother of all announcements!

Hi Andy, Hope you get better soon.

Further to your request for the latest information at BHX, to be honest and i will let Ray or anybody else comment further if ive missed anything but its pretty quiet this time of the year with announcements. Since the Emirates 2nd A380 flight confirmation, i dont even think there is a rumour going around at the minuite.

However there is some potential loss of routes as it looks as if both Norweigan and Vueling are cutting back on lots of there UK flights so not BHX specific but still will be a loss to the airport expecially the Paris Orly route with Vueling if that goes.

But other than that mate, i dont really think there is anything to tell.

Hi Andy, like everyone else I wish you a speedy recovery.

It's all a bit quiet at the moment, the busy summer period is upon us and most are concentrating on that. Hopefully come Sept/Oct time we'll start to hear some news.

Monarch are still to put S18 on sale and they have confirmed that Zagreb is a possibility. If we stay at 10 based then hopefully they might add something else too.

Spicejet have said that Birmingham is one of the destinations being considered for when they lease their 787's. No idea how close to reality that one is though, there's some stiff competition.

Cobalt are looking at Paphos for the winter.

Other than that there's just one or two little rumours but nothing earth shattering.

Sorry I can't add anymore than that :(

Hi there Ianbutty, what did you mean about PK bowing out with any announcements...Andyc.
Hi Andy. He is leaving the BHX CEO role soon. I was just hoping he would leave us with a major route announcement, but given the responses from Brum X and Ray, it looks like it is quiet at the moment.

Hi there Kevin Farnell, thanks for your kind wishes. So if Pk is leaving CEO role, who's taking over then, do we have any idea at all...Andyc

You never know, every now and again BHX do deliver something totally out of the blue which nobody expected :)

Ray Finkle for CEO !

Hmmm.......I'll have to do some sums and work out if I can afford the pay cut ;)

Hi there ray, so why is Paul Keogh leaving his job, I thought he had so much to do at birmingham, by bringing in new airlines. Hes only been in the job nine years, couldnt he take the heat...Andyc

Hi there ray and all, after recently looking at the Skytrax World Airport Awards recently, I noticed a few surprises, top 100 airports of 2017 was certainly not Heathrow, Heathrow came 9th out of 100, London City Airport came 36, then Gatwick in 51st place and then Birmingham in 85th place up two from 87, but no other UK airports after that. Then came best regional airports category, 3rd came London City Airport, then came Birmingham in 8th ,then Manchester came 9th out of 10. By the way the worlds top 100 airport was Singapore, all these results were taken from a survey that was completed between July 2016 and February 2017. The questionnaire survey was completed by 105 different nationality of airline customers. The questionnaire survey also looked at up to 550 airports around the world. Not bad news for Birmingham is it......Andyc

Thanks for the info Andyc. A pretty good result and consistent with past performance. A target for the next CEO will be Top 50 overall and Top 5 regional, would be my suggestion. Need that new terminal space ever more urgently or our performance will suffer...gotta get those pesky passengers on to them planes!

Their third visit in recent times I believe.

This may be another long-haul possibility:

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/a...ines-details-widebody-fleet-expansion-438053/

Assistant commercial director Michael Burke says: 'The carrier is looking particularly to use the existing widebody fleet of nine A330-200s and nine A330-300s to open up secondary destinations in Europe.' (from 2018 when new A350 and A330s are acquired).

It's not far for the team to pay a call whilst in Singapore!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
