LJLA is Faster, Easier and now Environmentally Friendlier Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) has agreed a partnership with solar panel experts Activ8 Energies in partnership with SSE Airtricity to design and install a new £3m solar farm at the airport capable of generating up to 3 MW (megawatts) of electricity. Preparatory work on the 22 acre solar farm located within the airport perimeter fence on land to the east of the runway, will start soon with the solar panels due to be installed and starting to generate electricity in Summer 2025. Charity plane pull at LJLA raises thousands for Alder Hey A charity plane pull organised by Liverpool John Lennon Airport has raised thousands of pounds for the Airport’s charity partner Alder Hey Children’s Charity. Leading leisure airline Jet2.com provided one of its Liverpool based Boeing 737-800 aircraft to be used by various teams from within the airport community and across the region, who each had 60 seconds to see who could pull the 40 tonne aircraft the furthest along the taxiway at the airport. Liverpool John Lennon Airport welcomes 4.3m passengers as revenues rise to £44m The UK’s number one airport according to Which? continues to invest to enhance its industry-leading customer experience for passengers and airlines 26 September 2024 – Liverpool John Lennon Airport reported a 15% increase in passenger numbers in its latest financial year. The airport welcomed 4.3m customers in the financial year ending 31 March 2024 and is now only 10% under its pre-pandemic passenger numbers. Arriva doubles Airport bus connection with Liverpool South Parkway and City Centre Arriva have increased the frequency of their 86A bus service which operates between Liverpool City Centre and Liverpool John Lennon Airport, with a service now operating every 7-8 minutes, doubling the number of services on the route. The 86A is also one of two Arriva services that operate on a route from the City Centre to the airport which calls at Liverpool South Parkway rail interchange. LJLA celebrates 90 years of operations

LJLA celebrates 90 years of operations Tomorrow will be the 90th anniversary of the opening of Liverpool Airport and to celebrate, a number of activities will be taking place across the Airport throughout the day. It was on 1 July 1933 that the Airport was officially opened with Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart, the Secretary of State for Air, declaring the Airport officially open at a grand civic ceremony, followed by one of the largest civil air displays seen at the time.
