Royal Schiphol Group to significantly expand number of electric charging points in coming years

Royal Schiphol Group will install up to 10,000 new charging stations for electric vehicles by 2030, spread across the various Royal Schiphol Group airports. Charging stations are key to achieving emission-free airports by 2030. As part of this, all vehicles will be electric: from ground handling to hotel shuttles and everything in between.

The tendering process for supplying the charging stations has been finalised and the project has been awarded to Ecotap and FIMIH combination. There are now around 400 so-called public EV charge points at Schiphol Airport.

More charge points for all vehicles

Currently, it is mostly electric passenger cars that are using the charge points. For these users, this project will significantly increase capacity in the coming years. In addition, these new contracts also offer opportunities to provide charging capacity for electric lorries, buses and ground handling vehicles.

Smart charging

In addition to expanding the number of charging stations, Royal Schiphol Group entered into a tender and collaboration with FIMIH combination to manage the charging stations and with FIMIH combination and partner Maxem, for the provision of a smart digital platform. With the advent of this ChargePoint Operator (CPO) platform, all charging facilities will be able to be centrally monitored and controlled. The digital CPO platform allows charging facilities to be intelligently organised and even linked to energy generated by solar panels at airports. This is to prevent overloading the power grid and allow users to charge renewably generated energy when the sun is shining.

The most sustainable airports

These investments will contribute to Royal Schiphol Group’s objective to operate the most sustainable airports in the world. In addition, these measures will improve the airport’s infrastructure, contribute to local air quality thanks to the use of electric vehicles and strengthen Schiphol’s position as a ‘Smart Airport City’, which includes sustainable generation, distribution and delivery of energy at Schiphol, among other things.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
