Hainan Airlines started their 4 weekly PEK-EDI-DUB route. The route will rotate between the 2 destinations giving both EDI and DUB direct 2 weekly flights to China. Also Hainan are allowed to sell the EDI-DUB and DUB-EDI legs which gives people the chance to experience Hainan without flying to China and experience a widebody on the EDI-DUB route.

Hainan Airlines plans to adjust operational aircraft for its recently launched Beijing – Dublin – Edinburgh – Beijing and Beijing – Edinburgh – Dublin – Beijing route. Initially launched with A330 on 12JUN18, the airline now plans to operate Boeing 787 aircraft from 01JUL18 to 27OCT18. Planned Boeing 787 variant operation as follows.

01JUL18 – 19JUL18 787-9
20JUL18 – 27OCT18 787-8

Beijing – Dublin – Edinburgh – Beijing
HU751 PEK0130 – 0600DUB0800 – 0910EDI 787 47
HU752 EDI1110 – 0500+1PEK 787 47

Beijing – Edinburgh – Dublin – Beijing
HU749 PEK0130 – 0600EDI0800 – 0910DUB 787 26
HU750 DUB1110 – 0500+1PEK 787 26

Hainan Airlines in winter 2018/19 season is reducing service to Dublin and Edinburgh, as overall service reduces from 4 to 3 weekly. From 28OCT18, the airline continues to operate 2 weekly Beijing – Edinburgh – Dublin – Beijing routing, and opposite direction (HU751/752) will be served once weekly instead of 2.

HU749 PEK0130 – 0500EDI0700 – 0810DUB 787 26
HU750 EDI0700 – 0810DUB1010 – 0500+1PEK 787 26

HU751 PEK0130 – 0500DUB0720 – 0820EDI 787 7
HU752 DUB0720 – 0820EDI1020 – 0500+1PEK 787 7

Also been reported on another forum that Hainan will be further reducing EDI in w18/19 season to just x 2 weekly.

The chinese routes from the regions are hardly mouth watering :cautious:

Think it's more a case of the routes are right, the airline's wrong. If only Air China didn't appear to have an inherent aversion to not doing alleged "marginal" routes/regional long-haul airport flying.

It appears that Hainan will be ending its PEK-EDI-DUB service on the 31st August.

EDI Flights operating on the A330-300

Hainan are also returning to DUB from 27th June according to SeanM on twitter. 2 weekly as a standalone.

Bit early to conclude that given that they announced their intention to restart the route this year with about only six weeks notice.
Correct. Interestingly enough, earlier today, EDI wasn’t even available to select. Now, flights are available from Manchester with a train connection from Edinburgh. They have applied for slots according to initial ACL.

They must be happy with the way the route is performing.
Last summer they didn’t have much of a lead in time. LF’s weren’t all that great at times. Different for S24. Visit Scotland have been on the case. They were in China last month networking. It’s almost certain some incentives were on the table to persuade Hainan to increase frequency. I’m reliably informed that discussion took place with another Chinese carrier re a possible Shanghai service. Time will tell if this happens.

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
