Edinburgh's a good example of how a supportive local council has improved connectivity to the airport...trams every 7 mins, the airport is 5 mins from the motorway network, the M9, so it is easy to get to from other parts of Scotland. A world away from Leeds City Council......
Normally the likes of MAN do sweetheart deals to include airports in their group to maximise their negotiating muscle so I'm not sure if this has been done with the triage of AMP owned airports.
In terms of directors and FR news ....has another director at LBA quietly disappeared ...the ops director, Simon whitby, has he been replaced last month?
I'm not sure what the reasons are but I'm really sad. I flew with them during the first week that FR started at LBA and thought they were a great addition to our offering. Every flight I've been on has been packed but my understanding is it's not just about having a full plane. It's also about...
That's the flight to Dublin that I tested ..nothing comes up for 2021, yet if you want to fly to Dublin from, say, MAN it does. Hopefully. It may be a later addition if they have the planes/capacity. The cynical part of me thinks covid is an additional excuse for FR. You may remember in previous...
This is incredibly sad , if true. I've just looked for next year and you cant book for LBA but you can for, say, MAN. I just hope that it's an error. We need airline competition to keep pricing competitive at LBA.
I dontbthinl FR ( or jet 2) will go....maybe FR have reduced capacity thou. Interestingly, Willie Walsh saying it will be 2023 before the aviation industry gets back to anything like normal. So I think we may have to hold our nerve for 3 or so years.
Completely agree ...Leeds is the only major city without a premier league team ...its astonishing ...and darn Manchester and Liverpool have two. With regard AMP no financial investment company ( and particularly one rellying on south East Asia and Australasia) is going to have an easy ride...as...
Papers are being savage about this given that it was 10 days after a £174 million dividend payout. Sometimes I wonder if Executives have any sense, despite the eye watering attraction of the dividends, on their brand going forward.....wouldnt the decent thing have been to use this dividend to...
Is it just me or does anyone else think the airport's jinxed ? We get within a whisper of some great news then covid 19 hits followed, no doubt, by what they are saying will be the largest global recession in a century. It defies belief. Senior staff come and go...all promising fabulous things...
On an Lba point...do we know how many people are on zero hour contracts who work for the airport? How are they coping , hopefully OK? And for companies that serve the airport, food outlets etc? Given that much of the airport's work is seasonal I suspect quite a few. We really should think of...
