    ATIS is reporting the Airfield closed with no ATC services available and the article states it will only be '' operating in the vicinity'' which could mean something completely different to doing approaches on the ILS.

    No just taking advantage of the lack of commercial traffic to survey sites that might be '' difficult"under normal conditions. For example there was one doing a survey pretty much over Heathrow the other day.

    Just checked Flight Radar24 replay and it was a Boeing 747 of American company Kalitta Air routing Amsterdam to New York JFK.

    I'm sure I remember that the training captain for Air UK(or possibly Air Anglia) at LBA around this time was called William Scarlett,so there really was a Captain Scarlett flying around the skies of Yorkshire!
