I agree...this is sadly all about consultation and process...and then giving people even more time to respond to that information. If it was anything else other than a government body I dont think it would be an issue in terms of time frames. Why they left it so long to respond though bemuses me.
Yes...I dont understand what powers they have though. Assume this report will have to be done with them being official? .....which could take months, then more time given for people to see it and respond online on the planning portal. I give up.
I've just read the article about Natural England's submission wanting further information before the planning application is be considered by planners. I wasnt sure who they are so I did a google search. They are a 'government adviser' and funded by Defra according to wiki. Does this mean that...
The council would be mad not to go for the LBA development....Birmingham has just announced 250 redundancies. It's an era of contraction not expansion.
This is a shock...it wasn't long ago that we were saying Easyjet might be a substantive (and very welcome) addition for a wide range of routes at LBA. I've said it before... but...thank goodness for Jet2. I guess we now pin our hope's on Wizz coming up with the goods post covid? Otherwise, where...
Let's hope Ryanair ( and the other airlines) recover quickly and I hope that some of the fools on Bournemouth beach are not the ones who are now rushing to places like Benidorm and Magalluf beaches. I agree with Sherburn Flyer, I think any lockdown will be very small and localised or they'll...
The main issue with the Council on this is its climate emergency strategy...which nameless person or sub committee in the council gave the go ahead on this and did they think through the implications?
Will masks have to be worn still on flights/at the airport? I've got one but dont like it...could hardly breath...is there a good mask to use if you are planning to fly?
My guess....negotiations about what LBA will give FR (marketing budget, incentives) to fly from there...FR has apparently been driving hard bargains with airports on the basis that they are lucky to have them
The perfect storm in Leeds for us is;
1. BBC ... lack of balance and obsession with environment agenda
2. Leeds City Council..useless
3 large university town...so lots of students/lecturers
WH...I might join you if you decide to leave Leeds!!!
There's no question in my mind the terminal development will be approved...private sector investments at times like this are gold dust. The issue I think that will be debated by the council prior to approval is the altered flying hours as a way of keeping the Greens happy.
I feel very let down by our flag carrier ....no airline connection to the Capital from the whole of Yorkshire...what message does that send out? Where else has been pulled airport wise by BA? I'm not upset now...just angry.
I've travelled a lot to the US with BA from LBA so I'm really gutted. KLM were always over priced for me and I didnt want to fly east first to then go west and Aer Lingus arent that cheap either ( and no complimentary bar ). I really am sad about this.
Just read Simon Calder's piece in the Independent. He appears to have broken the story. He states that 'the route has always struggled commercially' and infers that he isnt surprised. It's really upsetting...we go 2 steps forward and 1 step back.
I cant believe this...I'm in shock. That our flag carrier has pulled out of LBA is devastating....it sends the wrong message to the region and business connectivity.
I worked in Edinburgh for 4 years and used the M9 regularly...geographical distances in Scotland are large but at least the M9 makes it easier for the catchment to get to the airport ..imagine the equivalent length of motorway (about 54 miles), 5 mins from LBA skirting via the airport from say...
