The inbound EZY7346 from Geneva has just performed a late go around on approach followed by a circuit back on to finals over Stourton landing at 2nd attempt - Did anyone get the reason off ATC radio?
Saw it on approach from my home in Horsforth looked a little high. On the Multiflight Webcam it went past very fast with nosewheel still in the air - Very scary - I was worried until it taxied back some minutes later
To be honest I'd rather see sucessful consolidation and hopefully expansion of the BA Shuttle Service to Heathrow. Would not wish to see it losing point to point passengers to LGW
Unfortunately, good news is rarely regarded as interesting by the media.
Up at the airport yesterday evening to meet & greet some friends from Holland, who are visiting Yorkshire, arriving on the J2 flight. Very encouraging to note the numbers of Dutch, Irish and other non-UK passengers...
Cannot understand this comment - if on ILS the 777 would fly down the glideslope so it would surely be at the same height as other aircraft on approach?
"I don't think there's any chance of one turning up not fully loaded"
I don't think a full load of passengers will cause a major issue with landing weights as fuel will have been calculated from Islamabad and the aircraft will be almost empty of fuel (plus reserves) on arrival.
Re: Runways, Aprons and Taxiways.
Not a daft question at all. I think that a parallel taxiway running from taxiway delta (the old North-South taxiway) to the end of 32 will be the first phase of a full-length parallel taxiway and it’s turn-on to 32 will eliminate the need for a loop (although...
Don't wish to start any wild rumours about the proposed rail link, but Hewlett Rail have been down at Horsforth Station for the last few months working on the new train layover just north of the station
Re: Nostalgia Thread
Hope your Mum is OK White Heather.
Please do post all your photo's I'd love to see them. Much as the pax numbers are much better now than ever before, it has to be said the aircraft these days are much less interesting than in the years just before and after the runway was...
Re: Nostalgia Thread
Thanks Aviador, glad you like them.
I think there have been a few more DC8's. I believe Rich Air brought one in on a trooping flight, and also Aviaco occasionally used them on the flight to/from Palma which was normally rostered for the Iberia A300 (curiously the flights...
Re: Nostalgia Thread
Aviador and White Heather, Thanks for your help and guidance
I've now been able to upload a few scans from the post runway extension 80's and possibly early 90's. Sorry, some are a bit grainy and in less than perfect focus, but none the less I hope they bring back a few...

Re: Nostalgia Thread
Hi White Heather,
Can you help me. Inspired by your excellent scans I've started to do a few of my own, but I;m unsure how to post them onto Nostalgia photos - can you give me any tips.
Thanks, Bob
Re: Nostalgia Thread
Lovely photos White Heather,
They bring back memories of times spent wading up the "Birdcage Walk" snapping the aeroplanes and chatting to the other snappers and spotters who gathered where the footpath turned to go around the pan. I believe a teenaged Jonathan Hinkles was...
Channex 757,
Thanks for some lovely photos - I like the jet2 holidays 737 - I can't help squinting at the bird and with some imagination it looks like an approaching fighter jet!!
Re: Nostalgia Thread
Thanks Wawkrk, please do try and put the scans you mentioned on to the forum, and White Heather, thank you for the information about the destroyed Jumbo, I knew it visited Leeds, but as you say it was the inaugural 747-100 piloted by Yorkshireman and Senior Captain Mike...
Re: Leeds Bradford Airport - Photo Thread
Thanks Wawkrk,
That would be brilliant; Colin Addison took some brilliant photographs.
I have a framed large black and white print of his photo of the newly "Landor" liveried Boeing 747* piloted by BA's Senior Captain Mike Webster with flaps down...
Can anybody tell me if the Mosaic depicting aspects of Yorkshire life (which used to run down the rear of the old lounge from the cafe towards what I think was at the time a rather upmarket restaurant) is still hidden away in situ or otherwise salvaged for posterity or use elsewhere at a later...
