Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
Jet2 are launching 6 new routes from LBA next year which hopefully goes to show they still have a lot commitment to Leeds and not just their other bases.

Egypt - Sharm & Hurghada
Greece - Santorini & Preveza
Tunisia - Enfidha.

I count 5 with 4 been summer. 2 through the winter and wouldn’t be shocked to see Tunisia follow similar pattern in time to Cyprus & Malta (ends November, appearance for Christmas and new year, back again in March).

Where’s the sixth?

Is there another based aircraft for S27 or is capacity being shifted away from Turkey as there’s quite a few new routes for next year?

The passengers on this morning's Jet2 flight to Palma had an eventful journey. The were delayed over an hour waiting for an aircraft to position over from Liverpool. Once on board and pushed back the pilot discovered a problem so the aircraft was towed down to stand 18. Eventually after a further 45 minute delay they departed on there jolly holidays, however around an hour later they were landing at Stansted. Obviously another problem with the airaft. G-JZDB for the record.

I believe it diverted to Stansted due to Medical emergency

It was reported by another passenger that a lady on board suffered a stroke with her husband helping her until they landed at STN and she was taken to hospital. Jet2 later issued a statement confirming the diversion was the result of a medical emergency.

With another based aircraft due at LTN in S27, that means the aircraft based at LBA, which in S26 operates W-patterns to LTN will be freed up, allowing it to operate ~7 more departures per week from LBA.
The above, along with the plan for some 800s to replace 300s, will mean more capacity on some core routes (which may result in a slight reduction in frequency). This should leave plenty of room for planned new routes and other increases without the need for more based aircraft at LBA in S27

But with that also in mind it explains why we’ve got 5 new routes into summer. Exactly what I said would happen last year when members told me the W pattern isn’t in LBA interest.

Another aircraft operating 2 times a day is 14 extra rotations. So of those new routes how many “are used” and how many are still “free”. Eg - where will get extra frequencies?

This is so true! Wonder what this means for MAN in S27 as they’ve had significant increases too with little to no explanation where this extra capacity has come from?

That was the morning PMI with the tech issues. It was the afternoon PMI we took into STN. She wasn’t very well at all.

Wow! Is that even viable on a 738 without charging crazy fares?
Ryanair operate these routes which are under 150 miles including DUB-LPL. Unsurprisingly they’re all overwater flights.
  • Malaga to Tetouan: 88 miles
  • Malaga to Tangier: 103 miles
  • Ibiza to Valencia: 108 miles
  • Alicante to Ibiza: 112 miles
  • Catania to Malta: 115 miles
  • Seville to Tangier: 116 miles
  • Barcelona to Palma: 125 miles
  • Seville to Tetouan: 130 miles
  • Dublin to Liverpool: 142 miles
  • Malaga to Nador: 143 miles
Jet2s new route from BOH-JER will be 110 miles

(All numbers taken from gcmap.com in miles, not nautical miles).

I think also Easyjet operates between Liverpool and the Isle of Man at 102 miles.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
