A red tail from the newer batch, owned and fitted with a Sky interior. The rumour is that HJ has been chosen, although that could still change. Apparently it will be based at Liverpool with 24/7 operations, no slots, a good weather record, and plenty of football teams and major business...
The opportunity to get into Gatwick has shifted the forward outlook, and things remain fluid, so this could and probably will change again. For example, there’s now no realistic exit plan for the A321ceo subfleet (previously set for 2028), so either more ceos will be added or they’ll be moved...
TUI comfortably operated SSH with the 737-800 from LBA.
Oh possibly, I did think BRS or CWL but you could be right, memory is hazy with the smaller details these days.
I’m pretty sure these days, post 757 - TUI use the MAX not the 800 for their Gambia and Senegal flights. Thomas Cook used to run the very same A321ceos that Jet2 now have on their Banjul runs out of Manchester, so we know those aircraft can handle the route, granted we don’t know if there were...
At the last company roadshow, it was confirmed that there are no immediate plans to carry out Airbus maintenance at Leeds. While it hasn’t been ruled out for the future, there’s nothing scheduled at this stage. It’s also understood that Jet2 are hoping to take full occupancy of all four bays in...
The PR guys (if there are any!) really need to have a rethink. I don’t smoke, so it doesn’t bother me personally, but taking away the smoking facilities airside when passengers are basically stuck with no idea how long they’ll be waiting was always going to push some people to break the rules...
That’s a completely fair question.
It does feel a little like the rug’s been pulled from under their feet. In the lead-up to the CLUED decision, all the messaging from LBA was confident, with a strong sense that a reasonably straightforward win was expected. Several outcomes have since gone the...
I appreciate the level of enthusiasm, but I just can’t see this working - it’s an incredibly intensive plan in terms of aircraft utilisation, and that’s without even factoring in inevitable delays. Realistically, maintaining that kind of schedule, especially during the summer when ATC delays are...
I know it’s a long way off but LBA-FAO is not on sale for S26 even though it is available from other local departure points, are we really loosing such a key route with Ryanair from LBA?
I passed through the new arrivals area in the early hours last week and overall had a good experience. Three flights landed at the same time, yet the facilities coped well – I was out and back to reality just 30 minutes after landing, which was impressive.
Positives:
The new setup is infinitely...
I was just about to say the same. I still think we’re the front-runner, though on paper SOU have just edged ahead.
Fingers crossed for ALC, AMS, FAO and maybe one more for summer 2026 to put us back on level footing.
The seats look to be the same as those in MAN T2 and many railway stations around the country – perfectly adequate for the purpose they serve. A few hours perched while waiting to sit in an aluminium tube for 2 to 4 hours!
As for drop-off, there’s the well-known 1-hour free option with a short...
Presumably Arrivals is now live as well? I just missed the opening of Departures by a few days, which was a bit of a shame, but fingers crossed I’ll get to see the new Arrivals when I’m back.
Looking forward to seeing how it all looks now it’s finally up and running!
