That would be good. Am willing some snow or fog to arrive in the next few weeks in the hope there might be something interesting to see. Am afraid A320s don't really do it for me

Well, this is a random thread but it does have tenuous links to the development of Birmingham city centre.

I have just returned from the city of Goiania in central Brasil, a city which was created from farmland only 85 years ago and which now has a population in excess of 3 million!

Goiania has grown both fast and upwards with tower blocks, or skyscrapers, exceeding 38 stories everywhere. However, what builders there are doing and, i suppose, to stop people trying to count how many floors have been completed on new builds as they drive past, they put a large white poster on each floor. Thus last week i passed one which was clearly marked up to 33 floors - and they certainly had not finished.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to see the same method applied in Birmingham. We are likely to see skyscrapers of 33 floors or more in the next couple of years and i think it would be good if we could just look at the building and see where they are with the construction ie 32, 33, 34 or even more floors. No need to count or take your eye off the road, it's there for everybody to see.

Richard, in the UK builders put the storey number in big white lettering on the central core which is always the first part to go up. It is to inform the construction crew where they have got to. They could count I suppose. What I would like to see is the use of building site hoardings for schools artwork depicting their neighborhood or town, rather than just corporate advertising. I started a project in the Thames Gateway years ago to that effect and it was great.

Looked up on the net an old mate and work colleague from the early nineties. The last time I saw him he had just got a ppl and was about to start training on twins.
Anyway he's now a Learjet captain for Gama aviation at Farnborough . Fair to say he's done well :cigar:

First 747 . Gave up waiting for a BA red tail to come along. Have always liked the Alitalia livery though . The collection is starting to diversify a bit with Heathrow and Coventry Additions.:nailbiting:View attachment 4135

When are we going to see the new Wolfheze master plan?

Surely some more apron space is going to be needed pretty soon?

Thanks Wolfheze but i'm wishing i hadn't asked.Suddenly feel old as i reckon i have seen nearly all of these full size, including the Court Line. Great collection.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
