I
Not entirely the case. We might get something good with Eastern hopefully. And we have had new routes with airlines that already operate out of LBA such as Jet2 announcing new routes to Skiathos, Santorini last year and Catania this year.

Hopefully Eastern might announce something new for LBA, but we will have to wait and see and hope.
Its just a bit of yorkshire humour haha i agree with you yes reg the few new routes we get, if we ever get our new terminal in about 2030 that will be the big turning point!

Now being very serious here, which I know is highly unusual for me, this could prove to be quite a turning point for LBA. We all know the potential LBA has and we have been crying out for some airline to prove it. BHD is such a well populated route that I think that will make T3 sit up and take notice of this potential. But they mustn’t kill that potential by using the J41s. So there most definitely may be more to come

I agree finger66, if an airline like eastern was to invest in a number of routes from LBA both leisure and biz with the correct aircraft and the public were aware of this thru good marketing then it would be their own little money pot, something on the lines of capital!

It’s not confirmed at the moment but Eastern have retimed the Newquay route without a W route to Teeside.
It appears this is the case as having a look on their website there’s no flights bookable for MME-NQY.

As for LBA for now the times are still the same just that the aircraft sits at NQY for a number of hours. They might change them at some point maybe but for now the LBA flight times remain the same. With today’s service due in at 18:40.

I mean it hasn't been formally announced yet has it..? be good to get it announced and some forward bookings - be interesting to see how EI react, hope it doesn't scare them off the route but there is definitely enough room for both airlines. Be interesting to see if EZY launch BFS but I doubt that one now.

Those J41s just heep in going don't they? The Eastern aircraft have had so many different owners over the years and appeared at LBA in so many liveries!
I suppose in aviation terms they’re relatively straightforward to maintain and keep flying, a bit like cars of a similar age where you could maintain them yourself because they were simple and familiar. Now open the bonnet and it’s just a mass of confusing electronics needing special equipment to decipher!

This is quite a clever approach by T3 on 2 counts. Firstly the increase in capacity on NQY, will if they fill both J41s on the days it is 2 daily, tell them it will support an AT7. Secondly, it utilises an a/c where there is current demand. Something all airlines need to do, and are to some extent already doing.
On the downside, we all share our concerns about the reliability of the J41. Perhaps time for a back up unit to be placed at LBA to show real committment to this and ensure there is minimal risk of schedule disruption.
And as we are hoping for, a route expansion and bigger a/c at LBA, it might just show them more of LBA’s unlocked potential. Let’s hope our recent spate of better news keeps on coming. Terminal approval next..........

The current pandemic situation and all the hassle of tests and quarantine for flights abroad is clearly going to put many off flying but inturn should result in an increase in internal flights to scotland, ireland and the south coast, many airlines will have spare aircraft this year that need to be in the air.

The problems not the testing in my opinion. It’s expensive but not the main issue. The main issue I believe is the government fearful approach and lack of clarification. just because there’s a slight increase they act ridiculously. And also they keep changing things as we saw with Portugal. so people lose confidence when booking as they don’t know if it will go on the quarantine or not.

This could be however a good opportunity for Eastern as the government would like us to be prisoners and not explore the outside world. Demand is massive for domestic so this could be a successful summer for Eastern on that basis but it’s disappointing that their only using a J41 something a little bigger such as one of their E145s would be good even for 2x daily services down to NQY.

Yes i fully agree, for eg spain is an amber country but with the way our government react it suddenly could become a red country, so yes there is a lot of fear. I feel another issue is all the complications esp for the older generation, having to fill out the online forms to get a QR code (my folks like many others have not got a clue what a qr code is) printing forms, where to get tested home and abroad and how the results are sent to you etc.

Totally agree. I am not really REALLY old but I couldn't hope with all that stuff. Far too much hassle. It's bad enough just booking the holiday and flights. I won't be flying on holiday until things are normal enough to allow things like that to be confined to history. I may be waiting a while.........

The Government need to get the Home Office and NHS working together to produce a double vaccine certificate that goes in your passport. It needs to have s photo with it so it cannot just be passed around. It needs to be in the passport.

Whilst that is a great idea, WH, the cost of putting it "securely" in the passport would be astronomical.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
